Greetings from the Chair!
*****
Welcome to the official site of the 2008 academic conference 'Whoniversal' Appeal: An Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Conference on Doctor Who and All of its Spin-Offs.

You may be wondering what exactly this conference is all about.  You might have questions, or ideas on how you can help. Answers to these can be found in these pages (or, if they're not, send me an email or post a question on our blog).

Progress continues, both on this site and this conference. Please be patient if we can't address your questions immediately. Our News page will have all our updates; please feel free to bookmark that page, and to link to us on your own websites.

Thank you for all of your support, and I look forward to seeing you in November!

Cheers,

Our doors open TOMORROW! We look forward to seeing all of you soon!

Updated information on our schedule of events, as well as a list of abstracts, may now be found at the Schedule page.

We are pleased to announce that Barnaby Edwards will be joining us.

Best known to Doctor Who fans as the principal Dalek operator for the current television show, Barnaby Edwards is also heavily involved with the ongoing Big Finish audio series. He has worked on nearly fifty audio productions in various capacities from actor to director, writer to photographer, casting director to producer. This year he wrote the popular Fifth Doctor adventure, The Bride of Peladon, and 2009 will see the release of his Eighth Doctor story The Beast of Orlok, starring Miriam Margolyes. He has also written for various publications on matters Who-related and otherwise.

Outside the realm of Doctor Who, Barnaby works extensively in theatre, film, television and radio. He starred as Banquo in Macbeth in the West End, played the captain of the darts team in EastEnders, and appeared in Alfonso Cuaron's dystopian blockbuster Children Of Men. Last Christmas he wrote and directed an acclaimed four-part adaptation of The Phantom of the Opera for BBC7.

Due to circumstances beyond control, Paul Cornell has had to cancel his appearance at the conference. As you may imagine, we are saddened greatly by this, but we have every expectation of still holding a great event. :)
